Elijah Birrell attended the 2019 EASA College Showcase, which ran over a course of three days. This showcase aimed to identify up and coming talent in the Perth area. The three days comprised of athletic performance testing, technical and tactical testing, as well as small and large sided games.

Birrell was one of the younger players who attended the showcase, but he was also one of the standout players. His precocious ball skills and athleticism came to the scout’s attention, particularly on day one when he outworked a majority of the older participants. The 15-year-old recently debuted for u20s Sorrento FC and made an instant impact. He aims to make regular appearances for them throughout the 2021 season.

Elijah is a strong academic who is involved in a number of extracurricular activities. He hopes to study Medicine or Biochemistry.

Profile

I am an extremely hardworking and dedicated person. I always give it my all with whatever I try to do. I am very resilient, able to adapt to any situation, and I learn from feedback and self-analysis.
I want to play and study in the USA so I can experience a different culture and a different way of learning, as well as playing. This would mean I could expand my knowledge and learn new ways of thinking in a high-level environment. I am looking to study Medicine or Biomedical Sciences. The values I can provide for a team are perseverance, accountability, and dedication to myself and the rest of my team.

Jason Capital would be someone I would like to have a coffee with because he is a mentor in self-confidence – always reminding us to value ourselves and others around you. I would ask him how he came to be in a state where he wasn’t bothered by the opinions of others and the negative influences around him.

I would shadow Lebron James.

I go and talk to close friends to get it off my chest. I play or listen to music and watch motivational videos to get me motivated.
